History Of Agathis Wood

Like the Ivory wood, the Agathis is also known as kauri or dammar, an evergreen tree, one of the oldest trees on earth widespread during the Jurassic period. It is a very beautiful wood with a unique, bold and textured patina. This patina will keep changing over the years and will continue to get nicer and better; this is neither the smoothest nor the silkiest wood bracelet we have, but it is one of the most unique and bold. This is a wood and nature-lover bracelet.

It is said that, spiritually, this is connected to the mother earth and the spirit of animals and totems. It is great for people who have a strong connection and love nature or like to have a stronger connection and love as it relates to nature. It is further believed that wearing this wood will sharpen the attention and the senses and enhance feelings about people and intentions.

Understanding Agathis

Mature kauri trees usually have large trunks, forming a bole with little or to no branching below the crown. Young trees are normally conical in shape, forming a more rounded or irregularly shaped crown as they achieve maturity.

The bark is smooth and light grey to grey brown. The tree branch structure is often horizontal. The lowest branches often leave circular branch scars when they detach from the lower trunk.

Agathis Bark

Seeds of some species are attacked by the caterpillars of Agathiphaga, some of the most ancient of all living moths.
